Employing the techniques and philosophy of the Washington, D.C.–based nonprofit U.S. Green Building Council, this development and building team constructs custom houses using thermal-insulated concrete walls, solar panels, computers to monitor energy use from abroad, nontoxic paint, tree conservation, recycled water from bathrooms for the garden, passive solar design, solar water heaters, and other environmentally friendly products and methods.
